Notes
This was a very quick build for me and I was not nearly as thorough with my photos/documentation as I am with most of my other builds.
As always, if you have questions feel free to reach out and ask!
The Jumpsuit
The jumpsuit was made using this zentai pattern from Filibert Designs.
To make the leg split, I made a mockup of the right leg piece of the suit, marked out where I wanted my split in color to start and end, and then cut the mockup apart and redrafted that portion of the pattern for the final piece (if you do this, don’t forget to add seam allowance between the black and skin-tone pieces). The fabric I used for the final was a 4-way stretch Lycra and some of the Neutral Solid Spandex from Blue Moon Fabrics
The “CRYPTON” applique on the left leg was done using my embroidery machine for the base white lettering and then I applied rhinestones in/around the lettering. The same process applies for the green hip accent appliques
The Jacket
The jacket is made off of a heavily modified version of the Hugo Jacket pattern from Free Sewing.
I used red HTV for a majority of the logos and added additional accenting logos using a reflective HTV. The neck opening extends down to about mid chest and is held closed by velcro and some green webbing.
The clear window at the bottom of the jacket in the hem is a portion of a clear vinyl shower curtain from Dollar Tree.
The Wig
The base wig is a 26″ wig from Map of Beauty on Amazon in “Cyan Blue”. I started by crimping the entire wig and then seam ripping the wefts from the netting base.
I marked out where I wanted the ponytails to be, constructed the bases from PVC Pipe and strips of thermoplastic, then attached them to the wig base and added a layer of low-loft quilt batting all over. I made 2 tubes out of 5mm EVA foam to go around the PVC pipe lengths and act as the ponytail attachments. I added a layer and a strip of matching blue felt to act as the ponytail core. This allows me to have extra length without having a lot of extra hair, which helps prevent tangling.
I used Aleene’s clear gel tacky glue (diluted with water) and Tombow Aqua to construct new wefts for the wig and attached them to the wig using hot glue and tacky glue. I used quilt batting for cosmetic structuring and used a straightener to curve the ends of some glued wefts to construct a clean center part up the back, being careful to thin some of the wefts so I did’t add too much bulk around the PVC pipes.
The bangs were styled using cosmetic layering of wefts and quilt batting for volume without too much added bulk and weight.
